What Worked For Me:This book….what a heart-wrenching, gut churning, totally mind-blowing beginning to a series that I have a feeling is going to be one of my favorite series…OF ALL TIME. This book is the first book of the four McKinnon Sisters stories but it gives you plenty of backstory to set up for the rest of the books. It tells the story of Faith. Kind, sweet and loyal, Faith is left behind in Paradise, trying to pick up the pieces of her life after her soul-mate has broken things off with her while he was away at war. She has no clue as to the demons he faces or the mental anguish he has suffered while overseas and to spare her this, Cain sends her a letter, ending their engagement. She is heartbroken and doesn’t understand why but she picks herself up and tries her best to carry on without him. After his service is up, Cain makes his way home and attempts to bury his demons in a bottle and hide out at the family home…until Faith is injured at work one evening and a proposition is placed before him, one that gives him the chance to right the wrongs he has made and possibly win Faith back. This girl, she is furious and I absolutely adore how she makes him work for it. It is very clear they are soul mates, and very much meant to be together but the path to forgiveness is not easy for Cain and he attempts to do whatever it takes to win her back, wooing her one step at a time, until her sister intervenes in a way that had me in stitches. I loved every second of this couple finding their way back to one another. There is a lot of laughter and even more tears….but even better, so explosively hot sex. Like, burn-the-roof-down HOT!!!! My heart was hurting for both of them as there where quite a bit of feelings involved between them that neither knew how to handle….him feeling so much despair from the war and her hurting for him because of it, yet also angry at him for leaving her behind instead of leaning on her and letting her help him cope and heal. There were so many emotions at play here that I was physically moved to tears wanting her to forgive him and wanting her to make him suffer just a little bit more for breaking her heart, no matter how selfless he was trying to be. There is a great plot, some action, and whole smorgasbord of secondary characters we are introduced to that makes this book the perfect kick-off to a deliciously erotic love story about hope, forgiveness and never-ending love.
What Didn’t Work For Me:
This book was perfect for me….it all worked and flowed smoothly and effortlessly!

Cain and Faith are engaged sweethearts when the war in Afghanistan takes Cain – a physician and reservist – into the heart of the action. What he sees and experiences in a war zone changes how he views himself as a man, physician, humanitarian, and potential husband. His PTSD makes him feel like he is no longer worthy of the love of his Faith. But Faith, whose personality and determination are as strong as her name, proves to him, that burdens shared are halved, and that together the two of them can face anything life presents to them.
Sarah O'Rourke understands the military life, and what our forces face in the theatre of war. She clearly shows that our troops don’t come home without being impacted by what they have participated in and seen. Her understanding of this reality, informs her characters and her story, making the story and people ring true. The military personnel Sarah knows and loves will be so proud of her.
If you love romance, military, and reality blended together into a marvelous, touching and hope-filled story, you have to read “Cain’s Salvation”. You won’t regret it, and you’ll want to see all the other characters get their own stories too!
This series is about 4 sisters who live in a small town in Paradise, Tennessee. The sisters are extremely close and work together in the family restaurant/bar that their parents owned and they inherited when they died. Each sister has had something traumatic in one form or another happen to them that still haunts them. It takes their faith and the men that are in their lives to help them overcome their tragedies.
First up is Faith McKinnon who has only been in love with one man her whole life. They get engaged before he goes off to do a tour in Afghanistan as a doctor. The horrors that he see's over there and the amount of death he has to deal with along with almost losing his own life in an ambush makes his lose his faith in himself and humanity and he sends a Dear Jane letter to Faith telling her to forget him and move on with her life. This devastates Faith and it takes months for her to pull herself together.
Cain Turner is scared both on the outside and the inside from the IED that took out all of his team. He come home to Paradise to his fathers farm but doesn't let anyone know other than his father and brother that he is back in town. His twin brother who is tired of watching Cain no nothing but drink his problems away enlist Faith's sister Honor to go and talk some sense into him as she herself had survived a horrific childhood ordeal that at the time had left her not wanting to live either. She manages to convince him to come be a bouncer at their bar and to try and mend things with Faith. As you can imagine Faith is furious at Cain for what he did and he has a lot of groveling to do to try and win back the only woman he's ever loved.
By the end of the book we gotten to know each of the sisters and know some of what their demons are. One thing is for sure the sisters love each other deeply and would do anything for the other.
Even though some tough subjects are dealt with and the sex is pretty explicit there is strong theme of spirituality that runs through each of the books.
